The 21st October 2008 marks a very important point in Consols Oils ongoing development with the launch of our new web based marketing initiative.
Conversations with customers indicate two schools of thought when people wish to purchase fuel or lubricants.
Traditionally Consols has always been very strong on telephone sales, dealing personally with our huge family of customers often on first name terms has hitherto been, and always will be a major priority.
However with the arrival of Broadband technology a new style of customer has emerged who wishes to order and pay online on a 24/7 basis that reflects the hectic schedules that govern their lives.
With this in mind and with the ongoing assistance of Slightly Different www.slightlydifferent.co.uk Consols Oils longstanding web consultants it was decided to cater for this emerging market by developing a full e.commerce facility.
Another spur to act comes from the emergence of web based National marketers such as Boiler Juice who utilise local distributors to effect deliveries on their behalf. Consols Oils have not got involved in this area believing that Cornwalls fuel deliveries are best handled first hand by an experienced local operator.
Most web based sellers charge a commission typically 3% to take card payments which is added to the quote given. Consols view is that customers should not be penalised for prompt payment.
Consols offer is based on a competitive price along with a guaranteed 2 working day delivery time (subject to fuel availability from our suppliers) coupled with the reassurance of dealing with an established Cornish supplier with a reputation to safeguard.
Much play is made these days of reducing truck miles which benefits all partners in the supply chain. Virtually all Consols fuel is sourced from Falmouth unlike many suppliers locally who tend to use Plymouth which involves much greater transport miles.
Another angle in reducing truck miles is bulk or group buying initiatives where customers band together to order fuel. This will result in savings for individual customers. With this in mind Consols Oils next step once the first stage is running smoothly will be to launch the West Cornwall Oil Buyers Club covering the TR postcode area to enable customers to take advantage of the potential savings on offer.
The TR postcode area is almost exactly the area that Consols Oils operates in although our absolute boundaries are the rivers Fowey and Camel. By confining our centre of operation in such a clearly defined tight geographic area we are able to use our trucks to maximum advantage with absolute minimum environmental impact.
